To Whom This May Concern

Dear.. Crush,

That's right... This is a letter to the person that has occupied a space in both my mind and heart for quite sometime. Let me start by saying that, I'm not crazy. Well.. not clinically anyway. well.. I haven't been diagnosed with anything. So really, this letter shouldn't be taken too seriously. But... Here goes.

Sometimes, I sit and think about all the fun that we have.. Our conversations, laughter, and crude jokes that only we find funny. It's amazing to find someone who shares similar interests as you. And crush, I have found that in you. It sucks that i cant be around you as much as I'D like to.. But I realize you have this wonderful life outside of our friendship, and I respect that.

Now.. I don't go around blasting about the people that I'm interested in.. I pretty much keep a low profile on things of that nature. But crush, I could sing from the mountaintops. (But I wont because it would probably contribute to a lot of animals being added to the endangered species list).. Can I tell you what I like about you?

I like your work ethic. I like the fact that no matter what you have to do, you do it just so that you'll be doing something. I like the fact that you were raised in a good family. I love when you can tell a man has been raised right, and you crush, have been raised impeccably. I LOVE the fact that you can dress and hold a very high interest in fashion. Not in a feminine way, but in a way that you are very much up on current trends, and you like to shop. (which we ALL know is my favorite past time) Oh. and crush, can I just say that I like the fact that you don't mind if I go a lil hard about sports. I was raised with many male cousins, a football playing brother, and a basketball playing daddy. So it's safe to assume that sports is in my blood. Unfortunately, i wasn't born the with athletic gene. But it's something about a man getting smacked on the field that reallly gets me going. :-)

Now. It hasn't always been sunshine and daisy's for us crush. We've had some.. trying times. But you know what. I never gave up. And while I know neither of us are in any position for anything with a title. I just need to you know crush. It's you. Has been. Will be. You.

Friends have talked their shit. Told me to drop it. To leave you alone. To turn around and never look your way again. And. That's fine. Because I wont. Not right now at least. I cant.

Ugh. ok. do I sound crazy yet crush? If i do, I'm sorry.. It's just the thought of you excites me.. You make me smile. And laugh. And sad. All at the same time. It's exciting, and scary and again. That's fine.

You and me.. hmmm.. powerful black couples are so beautiful. And We'd definitely be a powerhouse. I see the moves we're both making, and I cant help but let my mind wander to the what if's.. What do I bring to the table? Well...

I'm educated, I have my funny moments. I'm driven, and optimistic (with coffee and marijuana). I match your fly effortlessly. Good girl when need be. Crazy when I have to be. And sympathetic. But again Crush, I'm not rushing a thing. Just letting you know that well.. I'm alright.

Welp. That's it then.. Let the speculation begin. I'm ready for it. I feel like a coward because this is nameless. But crush, I'm just not ready to let you know how I feel. So. I'll write you this letter, and hope that maby, maby you feel the same way.

Fall into Fall

Fall is coming! Fall is coming!!

ohhh myyy gosh!! Fall is my favorite season? Why? because it evokes so much feeling and emotion from me. And because fashion is so much cuter when it's colder right? Not just fashion, but peoples attitudes tend to change the colder it gets. (ehem. um, hello cuffing season?) These are some of my new favorite things about this up coming fall..

Now, i detest animal print. I used to love it when I was.. Younger. But if done wrong, animal print can look like somebody's cheap hoodtastic living room/bathroom set. But this tiny tasteful leopard print belt gives us a little break from the Summer's statement accessories. AND it's under $100.. On Dillards.com you can find this cutie for $38.. don't say i neva gave you nothin :-)

This season, OPI introduces us to it's new Swiss collection. The line consists of gorgeous Fall/Winter wonderland colors. With a few earth tones splashed in. And just in case nobody has told you (which is blasphemous) Many nail salons are offering the "no chip" manicure which lemme tell you.. is a life and money saver!

So, I've been coveting a leather bomber jacket for about 2 years now, and this may be the year I spend my duckets on one. They are super cute, super comfy and go with every style! Watch and see, they'll be EVERYWHERE this fall...

Also on my list of things to look out for this fall are chunky knits. *sighs* How I love them so!

Whats fall without boots? whether you're looking for flat and practical, or High and fun, boots thigh high boots are the it thing this up coming fall. These simple brown flat over the knee boots are Coachella, and the grey thigh high boots are Michael Antonio.. ( I have them in black.. but the heel is high and wretched.com)

Last but certainly not least, look out for the boyfriend pant. But not just jeans, the boyfriend tailored look. It screams sexy and androgyny ( love that word) and really, the pair that I just got from H&M are the most comfortable pants I own

No 1ne man Should have all that Powa

Well Well Well.. Looky who's back.. *Points at Self*

UGH. Lemme tell you how life has thrown so many lemons my way.. I'm like 10 nanoseconds away from opening up a stand on the corner. Summer is ending and the tell tale signs of Fall are making themselves even more apparent. Fall is gorgeous colors, crisp breezes, pumpkin latte's, high school football games, and BOOTS. But Fall is also cuffing season. For those of you who experienced a high volume of cake last winter and found yourself on your ass and alone this summer can expect that same fool (or fools... I don't judge) to come right back round as soon as the temperature drops. Then there are those who thought they were boo'd up during the summer (like myself.. HMPH) but noticed he wasn't quite acting as "right" as he was during the winter.. Now you will probably see a definite change in 'tude. But with both of these situations, we hold all the power. Right? It's not the one who always comes back, but the one who is open to it.
Lets talk on some realness. I had a situation where during the colder months, I started "talking" (I know that term is so juvenile.. but then again so was he) all during winter I thought I really had things on lock. But theeeeen Spring hit, and things weren't so sweet. By the Summer I was crying into a pitcher of Margaritas with my bestfriends wondering what went wrong. The pathetic part about my whole story, is that the day after my snot fests, he would hit me up as if nothing were wrong and I'd be right back at square 1...
Now, I know what you're thinking.. DUH! Why would you even go through that? Well, everybody has their reasons.. Mine was mainly the fact that I was dickmatized (which is VERY REAL) and I genuinely liked this guy and thought we had a chance. At the time I really did think he held all the power. But as I sit back and type this on the low (because I'm at work and not even suppose to be on here like this lol) I really had the power.. Not necessarily over him and his actions. But the outcome of every situation. See, I was losing, because I never ever gave myself a chance to win. I would go back into the pattern and even though I knew what the pattern was, and peeped game, I still kept myself in it. And THAT my lovelies is where I was giving away my power.
So.. How do you know enough is enough?

*If you find yourself crying more than happy and laughing, chances are, it's prolly enough.
*I know they say don't listen to single friends. But true bestfriends have nothing but good intentions for you. They can offer the best insight, cuz lets face it. The biggest symptom of being dickmatized is blindness..
*And lastly, the best sign that can ever appear to you, is yourself.. Hindsight is 20/20.. it's just a choice on whether you listen and take heed

I don't know to many of us that like being alone.. And if you're as fabulous as I think you are, I know you're really just looking for someone just as fabulous to strut around with and be awesome around. But at the end of the day, we cant go giving away our power. And if you're like me, and realize all the lemons you've been allowing yourself to be dealt, don't fret. When life hands you lemons, squeeze that shit into a margarita!

My sister, (who's just as fabulous in her own right) recently accompanied me on 1 of my shopping excursions.. She needed to vent because she had "the worst day of school in her life" Her best friend was pissing her off and throwing her under the bus for a guy. Don't act surprised. This happens all the time. As I picked up a pair studded aviator glasses, I tried to think of the best advice I could give to her about friendship. Unfortunately, I wasn't exactly batting 1000 in this field, so I felt pretty stupid about suggesting what she should do. I did explain to her, that her friend, was not a friend at all, but was in fact a frenemy. What's a frenemy? Well here's the definition:

Frenemy (alternately spelled "frienemy") is a portmanteau of "friend" and "enemy" which can refer to either an enemy disguised as a friend or to a partner who is simultaneously a competitor and rival

So there you have it. A frenemy is a lot worse than an enemy because all good intentions are out the window. They would rather aid and watch you fall or fail with a big smile on their face then to see you succeed. They run and talk about you behind your back, but smile in your face. They are jealous of everything you do, or speak of. They are unsupportive, and they are sneaky.The most unfabulous thing about a frenemy, is that you usually don't realize that's what they are, until they know all your business and it's written in permanent marker on a bathroom wall.. Frenemies also have a hard time taking responsibility for the demise of a good friendship. If their jealous, they call it hating. It's just TOO much for adults to go through which is why the Frenemy phase that most girls go through ends either in or after college age. After explaining all this to her, she of course was still irritated. I let her know that as annoying as it is, it will pass depending on how she handles the toxic frenemy. Now, most of the people I called friends have gone. And I cant say that I'm a perfect friend because nobody is. But I am a DAMN good friend. I'm very easy to get a long with and for the most part, i'm very lax about a lot of things. Normally when a friend has a problem with me, it's them. And if we stop talking, my absence is felt. When people think you have a certain weakness, they will use it to your advantage. (How wack!) Frenemies have the best camouflage, but there are ways of spotting said "friend"

A Frenemy will....

* Listen to your every word then repeat it (often times incorrectly) to anyone who will listen.

* Try to compete with you in EVERYTHING you do

* Talk about you subliminally and try to hide their hands at the end

* Sabotage, ruin, and try to take you over

A REAL Friend..

* Supports however she can. No matter what she has to do. Her last dollar, is now your dollar. Even though she may be having a horrible day, she still takes time out to listen to you. She's at every game or event if you're into sports, or at every concert if you play music.

* NEVER and I repeat, NEVER subliminally talks about you. She may talk about others less important. But never airs her feelings about you, or your business subliminally, whether it's via Facebook Status, or tweet. And if she DOES have a problem, she comes to you and tells you so that you two may go forward and move on

* Flips out on those she thinks are your frenemies and has no qualms about hurting their feelings

* Doesn't compete or even think of her friend as competition. Real friends view themselves as equals and all those other bitches out their are your competition. Together

I mean really, friendships are not suppose to be difficult. Anytime a friendship seems exhausting, it may be time for some re-evaluations. I don't have all the answers, and I don't do everything right. But I'm confident that little sis will make the right decisions when it comes to who she chooses to share her fabness with.

Greets and Salutations

Ok... I know it's been.. Forever! And honestly, there are no excuses.. No writers block.. no nothing.. Well I HAVE been working harder then the Heels on Oprah's Louboutin's.. (I gotta support my shopping habit) But still, no excuses. What I CAN say, is that I'm here, and I have much to say! :o)

So how have all you been? Me? Well... Lemme tell you..

My social life had seriously taken a beating over the last several weeks.. I was tested, and pushed in ways that I didnt even see coming.. I lost a few people along the way, and gained even more. And along with the additions and subtractions in my life came lessons that I didnt fully apreciate until I sat down and started typing this blog. For one, I learned I need to be more cautious about who I call my "friend" (and I WILL be exploring the meaning and actions of friendships at a later time). I'm an excellent friend I like to think. I try to treat people that I consider my friends, the same way that I want to be treated.. But some people get a little blind sided and side tracked.. If their worth it, help them back on the straight and narrow friendship yellow brick road. If not.. well... let them stumble around the forest on their own. *Kanye Shrug*

As Far as "relationships" with the opposite sex.. They havent changed. And. I'm not sure if thats a good or bad thing.. *Makes ugly face*

So lemme tell you the dealio on what's to come for Confessions of a Fashionista.. Ready for my news?????? I BOUGHT A DOMAIN NAME!!!! Yes, I am an official Dot.Com My new URL is www.Kishafashionista.com but it's NOT RUNNING YET! In addtion to a brand new space, I'm also doin a brand new lay out. I've been in email correspondance with a few Web designers that would like to help me get my vision off the ground. The first post on the brand new blog is going to be INSANE!! I cant wait to fully share my views on clothes, sex, boys, girls, shoes, purses, music etc in the fun, fabulous and edgy way that I've always envisioned. *pants* I wont give away too many secrets (that would spoil the surprise) but I will say it will be amaze-balls!

Ok yall.. So I have a few things to say

I'm going to take the time to really vent about some things. I noticed A lot of these more "established" bloggers have really been taking shots at those of us who choose not to pay to remove blogspot from our names. So, to that I say, so the FAUK what.. I mean really. It's not like I don't have the money to do it (because trust me I do) And really I don't have a reason for not having it done. But I will by the summer.

Secondly: Can somebody please tell me what's up with guys and the whole transference of emotion bull crap? There is this one guy that loves to blame other people for his short comings and screw ups. I'm not gonna lie, there has been a few times where I've fallen victim to the foolishness.. But uhhh not gone happen. I've seen Two Can Play That Game... I peep what's going on..

Next: Despite the name of my blog containing fashion, this is not some vapid valley girl blog. I cant tell you how many times people have said, "Oh I thought this was just a fashion blog" And these are people that I'm cool with. Which lets me know, they aren't really reading what I have to say. Well Whatever, because I see many people are actually taking notice to my posts. So to those that are, thanks so much :-) And I'll continue doing these for us!

Now, onto better things. I will be going back to non fashion related blogs after the spring '10 trends series is over with. I've also added a guest blogger section. I'm excited about this because I know many intelligent people that have so many thoughts and ideas that I believe other people should read about. But don't worry, fashion will be very prominent in the blog. The confessions will be rolling back in soon. *Promise*

So.. I'm in love guys and dolls.. I mean, I was always in love. It just took me a couple of months to really come to terms with it... But ohhh how I keep imagining my Summer single and absolutely fabulous.. We shall see I suppose.

Remember how I said I've started up knitting/crocheting? I'm not half bad at it.. So, I think I want to start sharing some of my pieces. What do you guys think?

Lastly, I would really love if you guys would comment after a post. Whether it's on the actual post, constructive criticism, or just letting me know you like what I have to say. I would really appreciate it :-)

Hello there!

So last night was my attempt at apologizing for neglecting my duties to you all.. So today I'm giving up a little fashion snack! Can you feel it? It's getting warmer (in some places). The days are becoming longer and the only thing on everybody's mind is SUMMER! Well, same with me lovelies. But before Summer can grace us with her precense, we must first welcome Spring. OHH EMM GEE how I've missed you so.. It's been too long..

I'm so so sorry I've been neglectful. But I'm currently in the process of getting my life together. (we all know how stressful that can be.... Even for a Fashionista). So guess what? I have 3... yes, Three, tres, tois new blog posts for you.. Including my favorite Spring trends blog which will be up tomorrow.

Hope the Winter hasn't bummed you all out too much.. I know I'm ready for it to warm up (as I stuff my face with cake). I'll tell you a little about what's been going on.. I'm getting ready for some major changes in my life.. It's about that time. I've been romantically flirting with the idea of moving back to Atlanta and as much as I would love to, going by myself is a no go. Plus my "real job" boss keeps throwing around the word raise which is reason enough for me to stay in Chicago.

My love life has taken a severe beating.. It's really frustrating and nerve wrecking when you cant have what you want. Especially if you're spoiled and borderline bratty like myself. I have the Jones hard for somebody, but you cant change peoples feelings.. (sucks huh.. stupid ass free will)

I need to get some Spring cleaning done.. My room and newly decorated closet looks like a war zone, and I have too many shoes, purses, and clothes that I never wear that needs to be outtie '09.

Not only apparel though.. Spring is all about starting fresh and new. So I decided to join a knitting club.. (Yeah, so WHAT) and I've started meditating. I'm also changing that number and going through major people evaluations. *Cuz it's about that time* Sometimes picking up new hobbies and dumping bad habits is exactly what you need to start a new you over. I'm gonna be so brand new this Summer I'm almost ashamed for other people.

I realized I was really thinking about the wrong things. When you're comfortable in a certain setting or situation it's easy to lose sight of your goals and dreams (hence the reason I haven't talked to you fabooshes in so long). But it's time to prune some of these leaves and plant some new seeds. I will be great. Just watch and see ;-)
